Cervical disc pain may sometimes respond more quickly than lumbar disc pain because the neck and low back are built and loaded differently. However, there are two reasons cervical disc-related pain may sometimes improve more efficiently than low back disc-related pain.
1. The neck has a smaller treatment area and a relatively simpler structure.
Compared with the low back, the neck is a smaller region. The muscles and ligaments that need to be evaluated and treated are usually more localized. In contrast, low back pain may involve not only the lumbar spine, but also the pelvis, hips, glutes, sacroiliac region, and surrounding soft tissues. Because these areas are closely connected, identifying the main contributing factors in low back pain may require evaluating and treating a broader region.
